I can't make anyone's day...

So sorry AC.

Here's the story of the free tickets:
We tried to use them to fly to Amy's wedding, but if we did that, we would have had to fly to Atlanta first to catch the connection. Too much time in the air, so we bought tickets off the lowest airfares we found on yahoo.travel.

I turned in my points for vouchers last week because the only two dates I could fly down to our cruise and back again were NOT listed as blackout dates on the airtran website. When I got my vouchers, I found out I could ONLY turn the vouchers in if I talked to a human at the airtran 800 #. I called a human and found out that the dates I needed to fly were not applicable for the tickets, i.e. I THINK YOU CAN'T USE YOUR VOUCHERS ON A FRIDAY, SUNDAY OR SATURDAY (except Saturday night after 6 p.m.)!!!!!!!!!!!!

(now I can't get the post out of highlight mode, ah well) So then I just used my Airtran member number on the internet and bought the tickets (with old-fashioned money) to fly to the cruise and back and it was $270 cheaper than the lowest airfare I could find on yahoo.travel!!!!!!!!! Wow. I'm definately gonna use that Airtrans A+ membership more often when I need to fly!! It gives you an even cheaper price if you book it on the internet as opposed to talking to a human being.

So back to the OTHER FREE tickets story: We go to leave Friday and the Airline (US AIRWAYS) calls us to tell us that our original flight is delayed and we'll miss our connection, so they put us on a flight an hour later. We show up to the airport and THAT flight is delayed so we'll miss our connecting flight. So they put us on another flight leaving an hour and a half later that flies through a different city. An hour later they ask if there are any travelers on our flight that have "flexible travel plans" and we're like, "eh, we could go back home and sleep and fly out tomorrow 'cause we don't have to be there for the rehearsal, so why don't we try it?" Jim stepped up to the counter and we got two FREE roundtrip tickets anywhere in the continental US or CANADA (I'm thinking Vancover people!!!) for the year. They routed us through a third city that the flight was leaving for right away, so we hopped on that flight while our suitcase rode on after us on the other flight that was full. Our suitcase arrived before us because the connecting flight in the other city arrived before our connecting flight did, so all we had to do was pick up our suitcase that was already waiting for us when we got off at our final destination-four hours later than originally planned! Hey, I can sit and read a novel for four hours in an airport if they're gonna give us free plane tickets!! ;) So all total, Friday night our tickets were changed four times and one of those times we were "bumped!"

So Sunday we get to the airport, everything is fine, we're tired. We fly to a BIG city in Anne and Lee's State, where they announce that our connecting flight to our final destination is FULL and are there two people with flexible travel plans? ????? I step up to the counter (as Jim is off somewhere watching March Madness) and inquire. We'd have to fly back to the BIG CITY in the state we just came from, then catch a connecting flight to our final destination, so we'd get in two hours later and take one extra flight-for TWO MORE FREE TICKETS! We got bumped YET AGAIN and ended up home the same night, just two hours later!

Isn't that amazing? I'm praising God b/c our travel budget is essentially blown already for the 2006 fiscal year (b/c of me and my idea of "hey, let's go on a cruise!" and let's add the MIL and FIL!)(uh, they're paying for their own trip!)

So now we have a grand total of SIX free tickets that we have to use up by March 2007!!! If the future doctors we work for pay for our flights for interviewing (which I'm pretty sure they do) then we'll just have to figure out someway to use them up! I'm wondering if we can pay extra money or else combine the four tickets to equal two tickets to Europe or something? My friends in Germany keep bugging me to come visit. Plus I've always wanted to go visit Jennifer! ;) I'll call and ask the airlines once we sort of know what months our vacations are next year. That'll be in about a month or so.

And ps, I finally found time to go leave comments on the rest of y'alls posts. ;) For the reason why I have time today, go see my other blog a bit later. Sigh. I'm gonna end up neglecting myself to death someyear.

And pss-go look at Em's post on Dan's Blog of their living situation until just recently! Great post em! (http://waasup.blogspot.com/)

me loves some getting bumped.
I really hope our ticket experience is smooth sailing...
Big Patrick (as my niece and nephew call him) has been going through the rewards program as well. Not sure if he used his points yet, but AirTran did seem to have cheaper flights than anything else on expedia etc.
