KEYS! WHY I DON'T WORK IN A PRISON...
OK so last week, I took A by bus to the local middle school for her yearly state achievement tests on Tuesday. When we get back to the house I realize my keys are missing. So I figure I left them on the bus, and waited at the bus stop for all the buses (there's like 12 on the one route, and 12 on the other one we took also). In the hot sun, in the middle of the day. I was FREAKING OUT. I would step up and ask each bus driver if they had seen my keys, then get off the bus and wait for the next one. Finally I decided I would check at the Mikky D's, where I had eaten, as well as the Sally's Store though I distinctly remember having them around my neck after leaving Sally's, and had already called Mikky's and they said they did not have them. Well, sure enough, I had left them at Sally's. I was so relieved.
So this week when I took her in, I was extra careful. So careful, in fact, that I accidentally lifted one of the middle school teacher's keys, and carried them off on the bus while I went to the public library. She was FREAKING OUT of course. But so relieved when I returned them 3 hours later.

I can't believe I'm related to you.
Wait, now that I think that over, I can (believe I'm related to you!) ;)
speaking of post stealing...
someone I know is homeschooling this year and thinking about doing it for at least the next few (kids are in 2nd and kindergarten) and I was asking her about what kind of "checks" the school they're affiliated with is doing to make sure everything is going well. (background: the school is sending most of the supplies for this year, inc. books) She said there is nothing, and if she continues to HS, she's not going to participate in the standardized tests because they're not required. Whaaa? I'd want some reassurance that what we were doing was getting through, and the paper trail would help a lot if they go back to school eventually, and when they're trying to graduate... live and learn, I guess.
a didn't graduate from K school district, and got into the jr college w my home made home school grad certificate. I too think the standardized tests are a good idea. all I had to do was send in report cards quarterly.aa
