Dry Tortugas: Fort Jefferson

We went by Catamaran, it took two and a half hours from Key West. They fed us and excellent breakfast and lunch on the boat, We got a tour of the fort and then were on our own to snorkle. The snorkling was very good. The waters are part of the the protected National Park as well as the islands. The fort was started before the civil war. There are a few people (under 10) who live there year-round. the rangers take care of the almost 2,000 landings of Cubans per year, as well as guard the environment.
