Ah, springtime on the Coast

This morning, before D left for his 8:00 a.m. midterm, I got the idea to ride with him to the NCO (navy college office) and walk back, so that I could avoid the gym today. It's a little over a mile and a half, no biggie.
We reached the NCO just before eight, and just as we were getting out of the car, we heard the loudspeaker cough, just like it does all over base every single morning at eight. When the National Anthem began playing, D stopped and looked toward the flag, like everyone else out and about on the base. I kept walking. oops. Luckily, he caught me pretty quickly. After it was over, we said good-bye, and I started off.
About half-way back to our end of the base, I noticed that the dew was almost gone from the grass. I also noticed that the sun was definitely pointed right into my eyes. Makes sense, since I was walking from the Main gate (which points south toward the beach) to East gate (which points east, duh). The third thing that I noticed is that I was beginning to sweat lightly. By the time I got back to our trailer, I was more than ready to stretch out on the cool-yet-scratchy carpet and contemplate breakfast.
I turned on the TV, and the weather was just coming on. It's currently 64 degrees, with 75% humidity. Great. It's going to get up to at least 73 today. Wonderful. My cat has decided that it's perfectly appropriate for him to climb onto my chest (with one paw in my neck and another right between my ribs, of course) and lick the sweat from my chin. Supurb. I know the truth; he wants breakfast, and the minute I give it to him, the affection will cease...at least until suppertime.

Spring is definitely here.
