The Frumpmiester and Locks of Love

So these are the latest additions to my collection. The top middle is made out of a cow's hoof from Tanzania. The middle middle is from Amy. The bandanas were a Christmas request so I can cover my hair the next time I go to Africa. The far right one, see below.

This one was a gift to me from one of my medicine Interns: it's made by a Cherokee she knows who does crafts. It's made out of bone and some stone that I can't pronounce. It's really pretty. When I put my hair up and stuck it in the bun though, it gave me a headache from my hair being so tight.......

Lately I've been feeling kinda "frumpy"-like I need to start wearing make up, better clothes and doing my hair-which has gotten so long it's just anemic and lank looking....so I went to get a haircut today......and the lady before me donated her hair to "locks of love." The donation has to be virgin hair (uh, I'm married. Sorry, it means no died hair, but sometimes they'll accept it) that is at least SIX inchest long. The hair salon donates it directly for you so you don't have to worry about sending it in......

It was two inches shorter than I wanted it to be, but I know the donation will mean a lot to some child with cancer...and by extension make their family happier during a really rough time. So the sacrifice was worth it.......right??? (it'll grow back...eventually....)

very cute. d is still upset that I cut my hair, and then didn't even donate it for another 8 months or so. oops! I'm surprised they told you 6", most places now are taking 8 or 10 minimum.
