Ideas for Next Christmas

Let's see if I was able to keep track of them all:

1) Only get gifts for people if u see something for them and want to get it. If you don't, no pressure. Christmas has evolved into too much pressure as it is!

2) Appetizer's only. I kinda like a different take off on this one: Bring one or two of your favorite eats and we'll have a crazy-quilt type of eating: totally non-sensical. If someone brings mashed potatoes, great, if someone brings guava jam with chedder cheese, great. If AB makes her rolls, great. Etc, etc. Though the "appetizer's only" idea sounds GREAT! I've heard of other families doing that: they just graze on appetizers all day long. sounds kinda unhealthy, BUT sure beats someone having to stress out about dishes, coordinating/cooking all that food, etc.. Whaddya all think about AC's suggestion? (and oh yeah, obviously people can do dairy stuff-we just offer alternatives so Jim has at least three or four things to eat. Not just potatoes and meat, like one Thanksgiving in particular!!!) (As far as no white flour/sugar, etc. I think that is pretty much a lost cause)

3) I really don't think celebrating the weekend AFTER Christmas next year will work for quite a few people's schedule (ie, military and medicine) as you're allowed only a few set, precious days off to run home really quickly.

Any other ideas people? (and PS A,C and Cody: we really missed you and wished you were with us!!)

I am guessing that we will be able to do "anything" as far as the timing goes. I do reserve Christmas morning for Nate and I and children, as I have in the past. This year we actually did it in the afternoon, because of church and waiting for Emily. The only thing different about next year that I don't really know about will be where Emily et al is. . .If there is a way that we can go to her if she can't come to us then I will opt for that. Can't exactly say where she will be, and whether we can go, or exactly when (before/on/after) that will be. Sorry to be not sure about that, but I'm sure we'll know more months before Christmas.
About the gifts, I confess that they are very hard for me. I am thrilled when I find something that I think someone will enjoy, but I hate spending $ just to get a gift that is just $. Also I have grown to hate shopping (except treasure hunting shopping) so trying to fit that in the month before Christmas makes me crazy. I know this shows all sorts of weakness about me.
BTW, I picked up a gift for you today, LB. At a library going out of business sale. Too fun.

I think you should spray some grafitti in the dumpster - keep track of the tickets earned or something.

Man y'all, ya shoulda just POSTED BLOGS instead of those super long comments. Let's see if I can remember what I wanted to say after reading them all:
brenda, (this doesn't have anything to do with the comments) I LOVE that chapstick y'all gave me. where can I order/get more???
ac-you're the pot calling the kettle black!! "The ONLY reason I got gifts for my clan this year, is because I just could not resist this good deal"-->that's the same feeling the rest of us had when we got a few extra gifts (amy got one for everyone, which I admit I'm too cheap to do-hence me giving out free drug rep pens-haha!Besides, amy really GOT great deals) The ironic thing is How can you be upset when YOU got people REALLY expensive gifts uh, (almost everybody-and everyone REALLY appreciates it!) and people are giving you gifts because they thought of your?? what the "family vote" really is is ALWAYS between the older women in the family that do all the horrendous shopping anyways (yes, I agree with Brenda, I HATE shopping-I don't understand how Amy can LOVE it!) and we blogged about it boforehand anyways?? Sorry if you're upset, but really AC, YOU got everyone really NICE gifts and we all really like them!! Unstress about the whole thing, it's no big deal. We did this because we love and miss each other so much-I don't think it's anything big to lose sleep over. And appetizer's sound great-I worry about one person having to make all the food for so many people. This year I observed that it's getting harder as the family grows, etc. (too bad there wasn't a place that would cater-I seriously gave the a thought! Ah, next year I'll still be making min. wage, so I wouldn't be able to do it anyways) And Brenda, hey, if em is down here, we might have christmas here next year with about half the family? ;) I was REALLY surprised her dan could get ten whole days off-that was amazing!! Eh, we are not even totally sure if we'll be able to come home next year for Chistmas. It was a GREAT Christmas, but it's still hard to do 20+ hours of driving and only have three days with family b/w here and the eastern end of the state. we'll see.....Eh, this shoulda been a blog instead.
