This just in --
At about 1:35 this afternoon, David came through town--

Nick and I were in the backyard, taking pictures of a hatching chick, when we heard a bump and a big thump. Nick noted that it looked like Anita's van. I opened the door and climbed in and conversed with him, enough to guess that he wasn't in pain, and that he was concerned about hurting anyone and WHERE IS THE DOG? I went into the shop for a moment to make sure no one was hurt in there and went back out, advising the kids to have Nate call 911 and Anita. Somehow they also called Grandma and Emily - not sure who. Anyway, since it was taking time for emergency help to get there, we started working on moving some stuff in the van, calling the dog, moving the seat back, etc. I wanted to keep David talking. We finally helped him get turned about in his seat and slightly moved to the middle seat. Then the ambulance and police got there and we moved out of the way.

The store owners are odd and not very friendly. The man is a detective cop somewhere and was really not friendly when referring to me when speaking to the trooper in charge. No idea why. All I had done was reassure them. This should be a matter of prayer - people are "sue" happy sometimes.
This is hardly the whole story but it is at least a stab at the beginning of the story.

Holy Cow.
I think my ulcer is starting to act up again.
Thank God no one was hurt!
amen; thank God!! a
David just called me; the cops went to his hospital room and told him that his liscence has been suspended pending a court hearing, gave him 4 tickets and told him the judge might suspend the tickets if he surrenders his liscence (sp?) permanently voluntarily. He is being compliant right now; hope that doesn't wear off... a
